The Beild House Country Inn and Spa was once again chosen as one of the Top Ten Inns in Canada by North American Country Inns and Bed and Breakfast Magazine. This grand turn-of-the-century home, built in 1909, is situated in the heart of Collingwood's downtown Historic District at the corner of Third and Pine Streets. Construction of this home was delayed because of the unexpected encounter with bedrock. Underneath the rich topsoil that once had supported the market garden of former police chief Benjamin F. Lewis, was limestone that had to be blasted to make trenches for the water pipes.
