Bruce Trail and Scenic
Caves Overlook.

The Bruce Trail and Scenic Caves Overlook is always a popular part of the Doors Open Collingwood weekend. Enjoy magnificent panoramic views of Georgian Bay, Collingwood and the Nottawasaga Lighthouse from the Scenic Caves Overlook on top of the Niagara Escarpment, a UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve. There is no better place anywhere to view nature's breathtaking Fall colour show. The Scenic Caves represent one of Canada's great natural wonders. They were once under water, formed over the course of hundreds of millions of years followed by ice movement of the Glacial Ages. The earliest written records of this area were by Samuel de Champlain and the Jesuit missionaries. The Petuns and Hurons were the largest Nation in North America. The Petuns used these rock formations as a fortress for protection from their enemies around the time of 1650.
